2012 'traveling light' exhibition
Often elements from the real environment, those that impinge unfavourably on my subconscious, find themselves transformed into something more acceptable - or even beautiful. In my latest body of work the industrial chimneys of a local power plant nearby become whimsical beacons of light. Before long the light is the only element necessary. It is the translation of ugly to beautiful that allows me to create a world I can live with and others can enjoy

3rd Degree Graduation Exhibition at Geoff Wilson Gallery - Traveling light - painting and sculpture
from the beginning
'living world'
Living world was a group exhibition of artworks that incorporate actual living things. The show was initiated by Vaughan Gunson, curator at NorthTec’s Geoff Wilson Gallery. The invited artists had to responded creatively and intelligently to the challenge of producing a work that includes a living element. Artists had explored ideas of life, death, growth, regeneration, transience, pollution, cultural history and continuation. There were artworks that were beautiful, thought provoking, creepy, and funny. Of course my -Butterfly Collection- fell into the funny category. It consisted of flies and assorted butters in glass jars.

'be mindful of others' (bMoo)
This body of work came about when I was presented with the brief to create an alternative space exhibition with an contemporary issue theme. For this exhibition I have tried to make the viewer more aware of the suffering we inflict on some creatures to feed us. The meat and dairy products we buy at the supermarket are not grown on trees. 'Meat' starts of as life, as we all once did.
I hope that I have conveyed my message that we are all citizens of this world- cows and all and we all deserve a fair chance.
