are you looking ... at the world the way I do?
To the outside world I am for ever cheerful and nothing ever seems to be a problem but deep inside I am the kind of person who takes everything on board, analyses everything, and most of all, I want to fix what I considers is broken. When I create I can escape from this loud, demanding and broken world. Often elements from the real environment, those that impinge unfavourably on my subconscious, find themselves transformed into something more acceptable - or even beautiful. It may be one day beautiful dresses which don’t restrict but rather send me free or in my latest body of work the industrial chimneys of a local power plant nearby become whimsical beacons of light. Before long the light is the only element necessary. It is the translation of ugly to beautiful that allows me to create a world I can live with and others can enjoy.
This philosophy is not only reserved for my paintings or other creations but I apply my 'little fixings' wherever and whenever I can.
